February 10th

Another nice lively poker game tonight. I look forward to poker every month, it really doesn't matter if I win or lose it is the complexity of figuring out what the other person is thinking that makes it fun. The highlight for me was winning a huge hand on 7/2. I caught my seven and suspected the other person was on a bluff so I went all-in, got called, and then won. Not only did I win the hand but everyone had to pay me $10 because I won with the worst hand in the game.

The dinner was good too, we had meatballs with some pasta.

February 9th

I went to Open Coffee this morning to check it out and see if there was anything interesting going on in Seattle. The last meeting I went to I found a person that started Rescue Time, I thought that was neat and I hear it is doing well since I first saw them. This coffee group is extremely adhoc get together to talk about peoples own startups. It attracts angels like myself and VCs like Andy.

This is Zachary Verdin, he has a new social network that he is working on for Artist. You can see the great Andy Sack in the background talking to another Entrepreneur.

A really like this format, it is so lose and not official. No one addresses the crowd, people just show up and introduce themselves to other people in the coffee shop that look like they are there to do the same thing.

I met a few startups today and I would love to meet more. There are so many great ideas in Seattle that I feel like there should be a better resource out there for them to be found.

February 8th

My last update on my bathroom construction was on January 4th. A few things have changed since then and this is what it looks like today. The heating coils are in the sub-floor area and the concrete is about to be poured. This is not that exciting but when people see the finished product, it might be fun to look back and see what it looked like along the way. I always get a kick out of it.

February 7th

We had just got done taking a group photo of everyone that went on the ski trip. The last photo we did, we had everyone in the group do a crazy face pose. Icy had a really good one, so here is several of the girls copying Icy and doing the Icy Crazy Face.

Driving back to Seattle was easy. Almost too easy, in fact the WSP pulled me over and gave me a warning that I was doing 85 in a 70. I really like the WSP lately, they have been giving warning to me and Icy and we have not received any tickets from our last two stops.

February 6th

We had a fabulous day on top of the world. The sky was clear and the slopes were completely open. One of my internal rules when doing my picture blog was not to have a blog filled with photos of me. I wanted to tell a story instead of create a photo album about myself. So this is the first photo since I started this blog that has my face in it. However it does tell a great story, hanging out and skiing with friends.

BTW, I took nearly 500 photos today and plenty of video. It was such a great day for skiing, I really can't describe how great, you would need to check out those photos when I post them in an album.

February 5th

Those epic nachos at the Longhorn at the end of the day were fantastic. Skiing at Whistler today was amazing. I was on the blackcomb side the whole time and because of the Olympics nobody was there. I assumed because of the Olympics the mountain would be crowded. However it was the empties I have seen it in years. Literally no line to get on a lift and fresh power was everywhere.

February 4th

This is the Thursday night before Superbowl and I am headed to Canada to go ski at Whistler. I stopped at Costco along the way for some gas and decided to eat at the food court. Instead I went to the back of the store to checked out the prepared food but I found the samples were out. What I found at the back of the store was pretty awesome. More samples than I have ever seen at Costco, it was literally a 12 course meal. The food samples were all great Superbowl food. So it made complete sense to have them all out.

I filled up on just samples tonight. I highly recommend Costco the Thursday-Saturday of Superbowl. They put all the food in one place and make it really easy to taste stuff.
